Coming Events for 2018

OCTOBER 2018 – URGENT NOTICE:  Red Eléctrica de Espana is planning to build a substation in the Lecrín Valley, with multiple power lines running across the valley and surrounding areas. The lines will be high voltage, and will be suspended from 80m tall pylons.

If this is allowed to go ahead it will cause immeasurable damage to the local area both in environmental and economic terms.

Back in March 2006 the Junta Andalucia decided to declare a B.I.C. (Bien de Interes Cultural or in English Site of Cultural Interest) in the Lecrin Valley.  This will cover the area of El Valle, which incorporates Melegis, Restebal and Saleres, and will also include some of the land between Saleres & Albunelas and  Melegis & Murchas.  Andalucia  has only 10 of these B.I.C’s, and this award for the Vally means that grants can be applied for to improve the area.
